Migraines and other headache types are suffered by 46% of the world’s population. That is a staggering number considering just how disabling they can be for an individual and the impact they have on his daily routine. Migraines and headaches are among the most commonly occurring disorders of the nervous system.
The way migraines occur is not fully understood in the medical community, making them hard to diagnose. Migraines are a neurological disorder meaning they react to changes or problems within the nervous system and circulatory system. What are some common symptoms that prove this is true?
- Sensitivity to light, sound, and odors
- Nausea and possible vomiting
- Throbbing or pounding in the head
Some triggers for migraines can be:
- Physical or emotional stress
- Not getting enough sleep
- Certain foods, including chocolate and red wine
- Hormonal changes
- TMJ disorders
Medical doctors will generally recommend some form of medication to take to prevent a migraine or something that will help while a migraine is happening. However, many people are trending toward looking for a natural approach.

Migraines and Upper Cervical Chiropractic
One thing that doctors and others in the field agree on is that migraines are often related to a problem of the neck. At Solar Health, we use a special technique called NUCCA that helps to find and then correct spinal misalignments, particularly those in the upper neck vertebrae, the C1 (atlas) and C2 (axis).
NUCCA is a unique approach as it uses a scientific method, along with a gentle touch to help the bones of the neck to realign. The body’s natural restorative powers take over and heal the damage to tissue and muscle allowing the bones to stay in place longer. Also, we do not adjust a person’s spine unless necessary.
Patients and those in clinical studies have reported relief of migraine pain in only one or two adjustments. Some never see their migraines return.
