If you’re a migraine sufferer who keeps up with the current news and research, you’ve probably already heard about the recent study released by the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado. The study followed 121 patients who used medical marijuana to treat their migraines over the course of 4 years. The good news was that many patients reported a decrease in their monthly migraines; the bad news is that “natural” or not, marijuana is still a drug, and it, unfortunately, does nothing to address the root cause of migraines.
Migraines can be quite a debilitating condition. They are considered the world’s most common neurological disease. Migraines are much more than a regular headache. The severe head pain is typically accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, vision changes and dizziness. They present a complex issue to many healthcare providers, since the mechanism by which migraines occur still is not fully understood. This leaves people searching for relief options, and many people are looking for a natural approach.

People may not often associate their neck with their migraine condition. Here at Solara Health, we understand that the underlying cause of migraines may be related to the balance of the many structures in the upper neck, including muscles, nerves, and vertebrae. We look for a very specific misalignment of the top vertebrae in the neck to see if it is creating abnormal pressure on the brainstem. This pressure can, in many cases, contribute to the development of migraines. We use the NUCCA procedure to provide gentle adjustments, when necessary, to this area of the spine. Many times, once normal alignment is restored, the frequency and severity of migraines is reduced, or may even resolve completely.
